Dancer Michael Dameski slid off the front of The Mayhem Ball stage on Saturday night as Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, sang for 80,000 fans at Accor Stadium.

Today, Dameski has released a statement on Instagram explaining he was "shocked and embarrassed" by the fall.

"I just wanted to quickly update you and say that I am okay," the post starts.

"This has been an extremely overwhelming experience. For someone who has danced professionally for years, something like this has never really happened to me."

"I felt a lot of emotions after the fall... Losing complete control of my body and underestimating how slippery the stage was due to the weather conditions was a hard thing for me to accept."

Despite feeling "sad and overwhelmed", he said he he didn't want to give up because he was dancing for his family, who were in the audience, and his hometown.

"My body was sore and bruised, but I had to keep going and finish strong. It was the only way for me to heal mentally and feel better once the show was finished."

The dancer said he felt "incredibly supported" by his boss (presumably Lady Gaga), the rest of the crew and the crowd.

The Poker Face singer immediately told the backstage crew to "stop" when she realised a dancer had fallen from the stage.

The music stopped and the lights dimmed, as the crowd filmed what was happening.

"Just one second," Lady Gaga told fans, before peering down at Dameski and asking him, "Are you OK?"
