Despite the pop hit feeling like a far cry from Urban's usual country repertoire, he's been playing it at some of his recent concerts.

The song was inspired by The Abbey, a famous gay bar in West Hollywood and the first time he heard it, things got emotional.

He previously said on the Canadian web series Intimate and Interactive that he "almost cried" when he heard the song, according to Them.

"Who doesn't wanna find a safe place, wherever that is? You just wanna find your people — doesn't matter what that is, just somewhere where you finally realise you belong there," Urban said.

"God, that speaks to me."

The songwriter, who has not publicly shared his political leanings, was asked in 2017 whether he would perform at the White House while Trump was president.

"I would like to probably answer that question when it comes up, but I'm a citizen, and I like to do what's right," Urban said at the time, per The Hill.

The private performance from Urban comes amid his High and Alive World Tour.

The country star has dominated headlines in recent months, after the bombshell news that he and Nicole Kidman were ending their 19-year marriage.

In late September, news broke that they had split, and a day later Kidman filed for divorce.
