'Thought I was doing well at 76': Rick Springfield's impromptu gym session with Dick Van Dyke, 99

Dick Van Dyke may be staring down his 100th birthday but that's not stopping him from keeping in shape.

Australian singer Rick Springfield, 76, recently bumped into the 99-year-old Emmy winner at the gym and was impressed by his agility.

"Filming an episode of Men's Health and I went to the gym and who should be there but 99-year-old Dick Van Dyke working out on every machine," Springfield revealed sharing a snap the pair took together to Instagram.

"Dick has lived in Malibu for about 30 years and is an awesome human being," he continued.

"I thought I was doing well at 76, but Dick got up from the chest press machine and did a little dance step before I left! Amazing!"

In the photo shared by Springfield, the two stars sit by a gym machine flexing their biceps as they pose for the camera.

The almost-centenarian has remained conscious of his health throughout his life, keeping exercise as a main priority.

In an interview on the Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast earlier this year, Van Dyke revealed that his secret to staying healthy lay in his commitment to movement.

"To what do you attribute your age and physical condition," he recalled being asked by someone previously.

"I said, 'I've always exercised, three days a week'. We go to the gym still, three days a week " he explained.

"And I think that's it."

And he wasn't just paying lip service. It seems the actor really is committed to his workout routine.

He's even shared insight to his gym sessions on his official TikTok page.

Last year, the actor shared a video of himself using the leg press machine in the gym to his 97,0000 TikTok followers.

"Stay fit in the gym," he captioned the post.
