Glen Powell recounts awkward encounter with 'toxic' A-lister
Anyone But You star Glen Powell has recalled an awkward encounter with a "cancelled" celebrity.
Powell, 36, told Therapuss podcast host Jake Shane that he was excited when the star – who remains unnamed – approached him to talk at a party, revealing he used to be one of his favourite actors.
"There was somebody who had basically been on the ropes in terms of sort of getting cancelled... it was kind of those big Hollywood parties where there are cameras and press," he said.

"This person had made a lot of some of my favourite movies, so I was like this is great, and he came up and he said nice to meet you, (and I said) 'Oh, dude, I'm a big fan'."
But things became awkward after a photographer asked to snap a picture of the pair together.
"A photographer said, 'Hey, can we take a picture of the two of you guys?' And this person was recently cancelled ... and it was not good.
"I was a fan of their work but not a fan of their choices. I was just kind of being nice.

"But then when (they say), 'I want to take a picture with you', I realised very quickly...I don't know if this is a good idea."
The actor said the unnamed celebrity "clearly clocked " his hesitation about taking the photo.
"I realised (in that moment) this guy, his face is toxic... people are having a visceral reaction to this person in terms of the bad choices they've made.
He then compared cancel culture to his character Russ Holiday in his new series Chad Powers.
"It's like Russ Holiday is a guy that just made a mistake, right? He's not a bad guy," he said.
"Some of these other people that get cancelled, they should lie where they're shot.
"With Russ, he made a mistake. He acted poorly about it, the world kind of didn't forgive him, and he couldn't forgive himself.
"And what I found to be really interesting is that in today's day and age, cancel culture is just sort of a thing and the world doesn't really let you forget your mistakes.
"I find it interesting how people react to those moments, do they double down, do they take accountability in those moments?"
