Private star couple make rare joint red carpet appearance at Venice Film Festival
Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara have stepped out together on the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival overnight.
The very private couple rarely make joint appearances, let alone with public displays of affection, but that's what happened during Wednesday's world premiere of The Voice of Hind Rajab.
Phoenix and Mara join Brad Pitt and Jemima Khan as executive producers on the drama, which is set during the Israeli invasion of Gaza.

Mara, 40, walked the carpet in a black mini-dress, flashing a sparkly ring, alongside Phoenix, 50, for the first time in Venice since he seemingly let slip they'd secretly tied the knot.
Appearing on Talk Easy with Sam Fragoso last September, Phoenix called Rooney - the mother of his two kids - his "wife". While it appeared to confirm they'd gotten married, it's not known if they are legally wed.
The couple had been longtime friends before they embarked on a relationship together in 2016, later getting engaged in 2019.
They welcomed their son, River, in 2020 and Rooney gave birth to their second child last June but the couple are yet to reveal the name or gender of the child.

The couple are known for supporting each other's work publicly but only walk red carpets together on rare occasions.
Rooney did appear on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in May to support Phoenix for the premiere of his star-studded drama Eddington.
However, the couple didn't pose together as the actor walked the red carpet with his cast mates, including Emma Stone and Pedro Pascal.
They did share a sweet moment along way though, with Phoenix giving Rooney a kiss on the cheek.
The last time they formally walked a red carpet together was the Academy Museum Gala last October.
In Venice, star directors Alfonso Cuarón and Jonathan Glazer also turned out to show their support, however Pitt was not in attendance.

The film, written and directed by Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, follows the story of a five-year-old Palestinian girl being killed by Israeli tank fire.
It received a 21-minute standing ovation in Venice, as "free Palestine" chants filled the cinema, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
