Downton Abbey star Michelle Dockery reveals she is expecting her first child with husband Jasper Waller-Bridge on London red carpet

There was a spot of baby joy on the Downton Abbey red carpet in London last night.

One of the popular historical drama's stars Michelle Dockery revealed she and her husband Jasper Waller-Bridge are expecting their first child.

The actress, 43, who plays Lady Mary Crawley in the TV show and it's movie spin-offs, debuted her bump as she walked the red carpet for the world premiere of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale.

She walked hand-in-hand with her movie producer husband, 37, as they subtly announced their exciting news at London's Odeon Luxe.

Dockery wore a spectacular floor-length gown for the occasion.

The pale blue frock flowed to the ground in a fit and flare silhouette and featured a glittery off-the-shoulder embellishment.

The dress trailed behind her with a statement train which was emphasised by a sheer cape that flowed from her shoulders.

As she posed for photos on the red carpet, Dockery was captured cradling her baby bump.

Meanwhile Waller-Bridge opted for a simple black suit complementing his wife's look with a blue shirt and navy tie.

The pair smiled wide as they posed for photos together at the event.

Dockery and Waller-Bridge tied the knot in a private, star-studded London wedding in September 2023.

The wedding came just over a year after the pair announced their engagement to The Times.

"The engagement is announced between Jasper, son of Michael Waller-Bridge of King's Lynn, Norfolk, and Teresa Waller-Bridge of Battersea, London, and Michelle Dockery, younger daughter of Michael and Lorraine Dockery of Gidea Park, Essex," the engagement announcement read.

Waller-Bridge is the younger brother of comedian and actress Phoebe Waller-Bridge who stars in the popular TV series Fleabag.

The couple's pregnancy announcement comes as Dockery and her fellow cast and crew farewell the world of Downton Abbey.

Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale is the last of three Downton Abbey spin-off films which continue the story of the popular series which first launched in 2010.

It marks the end of the widely popular drama period drama franchise.
