Dolly Parton forced to postpone Las Vegas shows due to 'health challenges' and reveals she's set to have 'procedures'

Iconic country music star Dolly Parton has been forced to postpone some of her Las Vegas shows later this year due to her health, sharing the news in a statement with fans.

The 9 to 5 singer, 79, is moving some show dates from December to September next year.

In her statement shared on Instagram, the American star said that she is set to "have a few procedures" done, but didn't specify exactly what for or how serious they are.

"I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts," she said in her statement.

"As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures."

Keeping up her sense of humour in light of her health issues, she joked that she wasn't having plastic surgery.

"As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it's not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!"

But she told fans she just wants to put on a good show for them, saying: "You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you."

She added that she's not quitting music anytime soon: "And don't worry about me quittin' the business because God hasn't said anything about stopping yet.

"But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding."

Dolly Parton, Carl Dean

It comes months after the sad news that the singer's husband of decades, Carl Thomas Dean, had died.

He died earlier this year in March at the age of 82, in Nashville, Tennessee.

A statement confirming the shock news was shared on Parton's official Instagram at the time.

"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy," Parton said in part of her statement.
