Disaster strikes minutes before Shakira goes on-stage in front of thousands

A dressing room flooding is the last thing any performer wants before hitting the stage.

But unfortunately for Shakira, that's exactly what happened before one of her shows this week.

The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker, 48, shared a video with her more than 93 million followers on Instagram, revealing disaster struck backstage.

She wrote on her stories, in a rough translation from Spanish: "Look at my dressing room before last night's concert."

But despite the bout of bad luck, it's believed the show went on without a glitch.

Shakira is currently on her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran world tour.

This month, the singer is playing a string of shows in Mexico and a date in New York.

She previously fell on stage while performing in Montreal, Quebec. 

She laughed off the incident and shared a video with fans.

"No one is saved from falls," she wrote at the time, with it going viral on social media. 

Earlier this year, Shakira was forced to cancel a concert in Lima, Peru, due to being hospitalised.

At the time, the Colombian hitmaker shared a post to followers on social media, thanking them for support and their messages after being hospitalised with abdominal issues.

The Whenever, Wherever singer told fans that their messages gave her "so much strength" amid her health battle.

''Thank you all for your loving messages,'' Shakira wrote in a statement.

''You give me so much strength!! I love you with all my heart.''
