Taylor Swift recalls Jason Kelce panicking over drinking beer during royal meeting with Prince William

Taylor Swift has recalled Jason Kelce's panic ahead of meeting Prince William backstage at her Eras tour in London.

It wasn't just nerves ahead of meeting royalty that had Jason, 37, in a state.

The NFL star was holding a beer at the time, and he didn't know what to do with it ahead of Prince William walking in for a meet and greet with Prince George, 12, and Princess Charlotte, 10.

Taylor, 35, was sharing some of her favourite moments from her Eras tour on Jason's podcast New Heights which he co-hosts with Taylor's boyfriend of two years, Chief's player Travis Kelce.

The trio were talking about Travis' appearance on stage during her third London show at Wembley Stadium, in which he dressed in a tuxedo and picked up a swooning Taylor as part of her routine for the song I Can Do It With a Broken Heart.

"Wasn't this the week I got to watch Jason meet the royal family?" Taylor asked, describing watching Jason clearly confused as to what to do with the beer he was holding ahead of the meeting.

"He was like, 'What do I do with my beer?' " Travis recalled, laughing.

Taylor added: "I watched him have this moment with his beer where he was like, 'But I want to take it, but I know that I probably should not take it,' " Swift said, miming Jason holding up his beer can.

"I watched this happen, and it kind of was the most amazing…"

Jason said: "I like that you picked up on it because that was exactly what was going through my head."

Taylor continued: "Like if I don't have my beer, what do I do with my hand now?"

Jason then said: "Is it disrespectful to have a beer when you meet royalty?"

Taylor added: "Yeah, or is it authentic by having the beer? I would normally have the beer, wouldn't they want me to be myself? I'm watching you say that in your head."

Taylor described it as "fantastic".

The meet and greet ended up going smoothly, with Taylor taking selfies with the royals and both parties sharing them on their Instagram accounts.

Taylor's photo with the royals also included Travis. She captioned it: "Happy Bday M8! London shows are off to a splendid start 🇬🇧🇺🇸🤝."

The Prince and Princess of Wales' Instagram account featured a selfie of Taylor with William, George and Charlotte along with the caption: "Thank you @taylorswift for a great evening! #LondonTSTheErastour."

Taylor Swifts highly anticipated appearance on Jason and Travis Kelce's podcast New Heights saw her sharing details of her upcoming album The Life of a Showgirl.

The album is set for release on October 3.

She said on the podcast the album cover was representative of her nights after the Eras Tour.

"It represents the end of my night, my show days are the same every single day, my day ended with me in a bathtub," Swift said.

"I wanted to glamorise all the different aspects of how that tour felt, that's how it felt."

She also spoke on the podcast about meeting Travis, who attended one of her shows and later said he wanted to meet her on a podcast episode.

"This podcast has done a lot for me," Swift joked about going on New Heights.

"I owe a lot to this podcast. This podcast got me a boyfriend, ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app two years ago."

Travis had famously made a friendship bracelet with his number on it to give to her during a meet and greet in 2023, only for it not to happen.

But, it turns out Swift never actually saw those bracelets, joking Travis "threw a tantrum" after she didn't speak to him and threw them out before leaving the stadium.

Finally though, Swift has revealed what she actually thought upon seeing the "wild" gesture.

"It was such a wild romantic gesture to be like, 'I WANNA DATE YOU'," she laughed.

"This dude didn't get a meet and greet, he's making it everyone's problem."

She said of the gesture: "This is sort of what I have been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.

"This kind of felt like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie."
