Stanley Tucci defends 21-year age gap with his wife, Felicity Blunt

Stanley Tucci has revealed after years of questioning whether he would ever fall in love again, meeting his wife Felicity Blunt "just sort of made sense", despite the couple's 21-year age gap.

Speaking on a podcast, the 65-year-old opened up about finding happiness again following the death of his first wife, Kate Tucci, who died from breast cancer in 2009, aged 47.

"I wasn't sure that I would ever remarry," Tucci admitted on Jenna Bush Hager's Open Book.

"I never thought I would have children again."

Tucci met Felicity in 2006 at the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada – her sister is actress Emily Blunt.

"When I met her, it just sort of made sense even though there is this age gap of 21 years," he said.

Tucci and Blunt reconnected a year and a half after his wife's death, at Emily's wedding to John Krasinski at Lake Como in Italy.

"We had a lot in common, even though we had nothing in common. And it just sort of stuck," he said.

They married in 2012 and now have two children together.

Tucci, who also had three children with his late wife, said Blunt brought stability to the entre family during an incredibly difficult time of their lives.

"I think she changed my life in the sense that she gave me a sense of security," Tucci said.

"She gave my children a sense of security, and she's fun, she's fun to hang out with."

Host Hager, 44, said she thought "fun is so underrated, by the way."

"It's so true. I mean, she's really fun, and she's incredibly positive, which I am not always," Stanley added of Felicity.

"And like you say, she's absolutely, I mean, her mind is incredible. Her capacity to take in information, not just from a book, but from the world and process it and turn it into something else is just extraordinary.

"She's pretty cool."
