"It's bulls---": Magda Szubanski blasts company exploiting her name in online scam

A fake health ad using Magda Szubanski's name is circulating online – and she's not having it.

The beloved comedian took to Instagram, warning followers that a video and article doing the rounds falsely link her to a product alongside TV doctor Ginni Mansberg.

"Hi peeps, it's bulls--- scam alert time again. I have never met Dr Ginni Mansberg let alone had a conversation in public or in private with her about how, when, where, why, how often I wee," she said.

She named the product in question and urged people not to buy into it.

"There's something going around on the internet. It's just a scam trying to flog some product called Vital Hemp. It's all bulls---."

Szubanski told fans the easiest way to fact-check anything attributed to her is to go straight to her own page.

"The rule of thumb I would say is if you want to know if something is true or whether I've said it, come to my Instagram page, and that's where I put my posts.

"This is very annoying, and I really hope you haven't wasted your money. Happy Friday, love you all."

In the caption, she made clear that Mansberg is also being used without permission.

"Dr Ginni is NOT the perpetrator. She's being used just like me," it read.

It follows earlier attempts to exploit her profile. In recent months, fake fundraisers tied to her cancer diagnosis appeared online, including posts showing a woman in a hospital bed claiming to be her. Szubanski called those out at the time.

In February, the nation rejoiced as the Kath and Kim star announced she was in remission after battling stage four Mantle cell lymphoma, a rare blood cancer.

"I've completed chemo, and I am now in remission," she said.

"Phew, big relief. It's not a cure, but because I got a good remission, that hopefully means that I will keep the cancer at bay for a good long time."

She said the support from followers helped carry her through treatment.

"I swear to God, it helped me not only emotionally, I think it really helped me physically, too," she said.

"We have the most incredible medical people in this country," she said.

"We're so lucky. And there's not a day that goes by that I don't give profound thanks to the medical community."
