Aussie stars wow with bold fashion at The Devil Wears Prada 2 premiere in Sydney

The Devil Wears Prada 2 premieres have taken over the world, and last night, it was Australia's turn.

Aussie stars were led into the gala event at Sydney's State Theatre last night by actor Patrick Brammall, who plays the love interest of Anne Hathaway's character Andie Sachs in this iteration of the film.

The 50-year-old looked smart double-breasted grey suit, but revealed he almost turned down the role.

He posed alongside his wife Harriet Dyer at the event, who wore a coordinated black set complete with a blazer, skirt, and lace bandeau.

The Colin from Accounts star spoke at the gala event last night, sharing why he nearly didn't take the role in what is arguably the biggest film of 2026.

"It wasn't self-doubt so much, it was pragmatics," he shared with the crowd, as per the Sydney Morning Herald.

"When they asked me to audition, and I'm 50, I've been around the block, I've been working as an actor for many, many years, and I've put down a lot of auditions for a lot of big things going, 'oh, this could be it.'

"And so when that came through, I was like, 'that's really nice that they're considering me', but I genuinely didn't have time," he said, sharing that he preferred to spend his time on another project and raising his two young daughters, Joni, four, and Mabel, one.

"I was just like 'at the end of the day, they're not gonna call me back about this, so no thanks.'

"History had told me that 99 per cent of things that you go for as an actor, you don't get. And so I thought this is really lovely to be in this conversation, but I've got other things I've got to do, and it wasn't a play, but it turned out to feel like one because they came back to me with an offer."

Other famous faces at the star-studded event included Getaway host Catriona Rowntree.

The 54-year-old dressed on theme in a structured red gown with puff sleeves and floral motifs throughout.

Her brave appearance came three weeks after she announced the death of her older sister Lucinda, after a battle with cancer on April 10.

Also in attendance was radio star Abbie Chatfield, who has taken over hosting the KIIS breakfast show alongside Mike E and covering the timeslot of the now-defunct Kyle and Jackie O Show – at least, for this week.

The Bachelor alum dressed in a white mini-dress with a low neckline and black pocket detailing, tying the look together with black platform heels and a pair of black stockings as an homage to the office culture of the film.

Christian Wilkins was there, wearing a silver asymmetrical halter top, with the neckline curving over his chest and down his front.

He wore intense makeup, packed with blush and face gems.

Also playing into the fashion was Aussie influencer and entrepreneur Rowi Singh, who nailed the office siren look with her glasses and slicked-back bun, and red statement lip.

Her dress was a more romantic silhouette, but remained edgy with a pop of silver at the bust. She accessorised with a stack of silver bangles, bringing a touch of her desi culture into the look, and heavy statement earrings stacked on top of one another.

Jess Rowe is always one to play with fashion, and she didn't disappoint last night.

The journalist stepped out in an outfit as eccentric as herself, wearing a sequined dress with a pink koala and a blue-and-yellow house on it, which descended into a blue lace skirt with multicoloured florals, ending in a matching fur trim.

Her daughters, Allegra and Giselle, joined her. Allegra donning a silver mini-dress and Giselle wearing a champagne-coloured gown for the occasion.
