'Zero tolerance': Chappell Roan doubles down on fan behaviour after claims she made Jude Law's daughter cry during Brazil hotel saga

Chappell Roan has doubled down on her side of what really went down in Brazil with Catherine Harding and her daughter Ada. 

The 28-year-old pop star was accused by Harding's husband, footballer Jorginho – real name Jorge Luiz Frello Filho – of intimidating his 11-year-old stepdaughter through her security team. 

But in a new statement, a spokesperson for the Pink Pony Club hitmaker shared that she has "zero tolerance" for "aggressive behaviour" towards her fans.

"Chappell was not aware of any interaction between this mother/daughter and a third-party security office," the rep said in the statement to the Daily Mail. 

"She did not see them at breakfast in her hotel, as she said in her video. She did not direct her personal security or anyone on her team to interact with them."

The statement continued, "Chappell holds her own teams to the highest standards and has zero tolerance for any kind of aggressive behaviour towards her or her fans."

Roan, whose real name is Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, first spoke out about the situation on her Instagram Stories on Sunday. 

"I'm just gonna tell my half of the story of what happened today with a mother and child who were involved with a security guard, who is not my personal security," she said. 

"I didn't even see a woman and a child, like, no one came up to me. No one bothered me. I was just sitting at breakfast in my hotel. I think these people were staying at the hotel, as well," she continued. 

Roan said she did not tell the security guard to "go up and talk" to the mother and daughter, who she later found out were Jude Law's ex Harding and their daughter. 

"I did not, [and] they did not come up to me. They weren't doing anything," she clarified. 

"It's unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions when they have no reason to believe because there's no action even taken, like, that's so not what I stand behind."

The Pink Pony Club singer added, "I do not hate children, like that is crazy." 

She finished the video by apologising to Harding and her daughter for the interaction with the security guard.

Roan was slammed online by Jorginho in a big post after the alleged interaction at the hotel.

The backlash towards the singer was swift and hours after she shared her side of the story online, Harding posted her own version of events in a six-minute video on Instagram.

Harding admitted she didn't think it would blow up like it had, but wanted to speak on the situation because of how many people had been asking her what really happened.

"I know that Chappell has responded saying it wasn't her security and she didn't do it," she said.

"So, 100 per cent this security guard was not a security guard of the hotel, that's what I can say."

Harding said she wasn't aware if the security guard was just looking after artists, or a member of Roan's team.

"Did she send him to do it? Again, I don't know. Look, I would like to hope not... but at the same time I think that you have a responsibility when you are a celebrity to make sure that the people who work for you and act on your behalf, are acting on your behalf."

The initial post from the football star was enough to get a lot of people fired up, with the mayor of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Cavaliere swiftly sharing his view of things.

Taking to X, sharing Jorginho's post about what happened, he banned Roan from performing at the Todo Mundo no Rio festival later this year.

"I mean that as long as I'm in charge of our city - this young lady @ChappellRoan will never perform at Todo Mundo no Rio!" he wrote.

"I doubt that Shakira @shakira @Shakira_Brasil would do that! By the way, @FrelloJorginho your little one is already the guest of honor from the organization in May!"
