Oscars after-party chef reveals what stars will dine on after Hollywood's night of nights

A British chef who caters the Oscars' premier after-party has revealed which of his dishes the stars queue up for on Hollywood's night of nights.

Elliott Grover, who is the executive chef at Cut at 45 Park Lane in the swanky Mayfair area of London, has been hosting a stall inside the Governor's Ball since 2023.

The ball is the most famous Oscars after-party and hosts up to 1200 of the biggest names in Hollywood.

Grover has revealed to The Times that stars often join a 400-strong queue to sample his signature dish, fish and chips.

"I host a British kitchen, next to where the golden statuettes are engraved in front of the winners," he said.

"I meet all the stars from Lady Gaga to Billie Eilish.

"It's madness – the queue for my fish and chips has stretched to 400 people. If I have time to look at the queue, it's a who's who of Hollywood."

And after weeks of strict pre-Oscars dieting, he said it was not unusual for celebrities to "come back for seconds and thirds".

Grover said this year's menu will feature other celebrity favourites including sherry trifle and beef Wellington.

"Brendan Fraser, Michelle Yeoh, Christopher Nolan put down his two Oppenheimer awards on my stand to eat my beef Wellington," Grover said.

And there will be some new dishes this year, including his own creation: Coronation chicken and Scotch egg.

As for catering for Hollywood's obsession with healthy eating, Grover said he won't be changing his dishes to fit in.

"There's another table for vegan sushi, so if you don't like my food, go over there," he said.

Not that he thinks anyone will mind.

"One lovely lady – a well-known reality TV star – was cramming food in her mouth.

"She told me she hadn't eaten properly for weeks, to fit into her dress."

The Governor's Ball catering has been overseen by renowned chef Wolfgang Puck for more than 30 years.

Grover's Oscars day will start at 7am.

After navigating strict security at the venue, he will bring in the food, most of which has been prepared in advance.

He then heads to the ballroom, where the official after-show celebrations are held.

Over the weekend, Grover took to Instagram to mark the Oscars countdown.

"Only a few days away from the Oscars now. A huge press day with @wolfgangpuck yesterday!"

The 98th Academy Awards is being hosted for the second year in a row by Conan O'Brien, who took over from fellow talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
