Kyle Sandilands doesn't return to Wednesday's KIIS FM show as fate of radio shock jock remains unknown

Kyle Sandilands did not return to his KIIS FM radio show on Wednesday morning.

All ears were on the station at 6am to see if the shock jock, 54, might be back on-air after a two-week deadline set by the network to "remedy" an act of "serious misconduct" expired at midnight.

But instead, listeners heard fill-in Mike Etheridge, also known as Mike E, take to the airwaves instead.

Kyle and Jackie-O's bust up is the biggest and most expensive in Australian media history.

He and newsreader Brooklyn Ross made a subtle joke at the situation, with Mike E immediately bringing up a conversation about interest rates.

"How you feeling about the big news, the interest rate?" Mike E said, to which newsreader Brooklyn Ross replied: "Oh, that news... yeah."

ARN is expected to release a statement shortly as the two-week suspension for alleged "serious misconduct" came to an end overnight.

ARN said on March 3 that Sandilands was "in breach of his contract" and had a fortnight to respond or face having the deal terminated.

Waiting game for Kyle Sandilands

So far, ARN has said nothing.

Even as late as last night, Sandilands expressed how much he wanted to continue with his show after the Kyle and Jackie O Show was canned in the wake of his on-air clash with co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson.

While waiting for ARN to decide his fate at the network, Sandilands gave an impromptu interview to industry YouTube show Media McKnight after host Rob McKnight called his manager live on Tuesday night.

Sandilands had just come off air from Australian Idol and spoke about his hopes to be back on breakfast radio this morning.

"My world hasn't fallen apart – I've still got a contract, that hasn't changed and until they advise me of such, I'm still more than happy to show up there tomorrow to do the radio show," he said.

"Although, we're not sure that that's going to happen, since we haven't heard anything yet but hopefully I'll hear by midnight and then we'll know where we all stand.

"But I want to get back to work, the listeners want me to get back there. I've had many clients call me to say that they want me back on there. So we'll just have to see whether we're all singing from the same hymn book."

The March 3 statement also confirmed Henderson's contract had been terminated as she could not "continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands."

Kyle Sandilands discusses future at ARN after suspension

Sandilands last week released a statement telling listeners and fans, "I miss you. I'll be back," while Henderson, 51, broke her silence in a statement claiming she "did not quit or resign" from The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

During their on-air row on February 20, Henderson had read from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's astrology birth chart when things kicked off.

"Your fixation on this has made you almost unworkable," Sandilands told her.

"You are off with the fairies with this s--t, it's mental."

He claimed her fixation on astrology charts made her sound like a "drug addict", knowing Henderson has faced addiction struggles before.

"You are not doing the rest of the job, and everyone in this building has mentioned it to me," he said.

"You don't know what the f--k is going on all the time, because you're looking at that phone, playing in the stars, and it's ridiculous."

Now all eyes are on ARN to see the fate of Sandilands, expected sometime later today.
