Kyle and Jackie O's former boss says there's 'zero chance' of reconciliation as he weighs in on pair's future

A radio boss who worked extensively with Jackie 'O' Henderson and Kyle Sandilands has claimed there's "zero chance" of reconciliation between the pair.

Craig Bruce, who was program director at 2DayFM during the radio duo's reign at the station, said "there were signs" it was over long before Jackie announced her exit on Tuesday over a fiery on-air clash last month.

Speaking on the Today show on Wednesday morning, Bruce said: "I didn't see it coming, but I think there were signs.

"People working about the show, they would tell you that there was never a chance they would work to the end of their 10-year contract. It just wasn't going to happen.

"They were two very different people, there wasn't a lot of communication between the songs which is always a bad sign.

"My experience back in 2004 through to 2013, they were super tight. They were close friends, they worked really work together."

He said that they simply "evolved and drifted" over years and that the end of the show was understandable.

When asked about the pair's future, he said: "I can't see a world where Kyle will be back on KIIS, and I can't see a world where Jackie will either."

He predicted that Jackie might return to 2DayFM with her own show in future.

He also said that Sandilands' divisive behaviour means he "can't see a world where Kyle would have a show that is built around him without Jackie".

"The challenge for Kyle is that advertisers don't love him," he said. "He is brilliant at his job. But it's complicated – he's got two feet with bullet holes in them from shooting himself so often.

"It's sad for radio. Love them or hate them, they're an incredible show. To be together for 20 odd years and number one in Sydney, we'll never see that again I don't think."

He said that the on-air row may have been the catalyst for Jackie's exit, but it's in no way the only reason.

"I think Jackie has legitimate concerns and it's been building up a long time," he added.

"The show is finishing because they don't have a connection anymore, and Jackie wants to move on and start again - that would be my guess."

ARN Media confirmed Jackie's exit from the show on Tuesday afternoon.

It came days after Sandilands berated Henderson on air after she raised the topic of astrology and birth charts during a discussion about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

"Your fixation on this has made you almost unworkable," Sandilands said.

He said her fixation on astrology charts made her like a "drug addict", knowing Henderson has faced addiction struggles before.

"You are not doing the rest of the job, and everyone in this building has mentioned it to me."

Ms Jacqueline Henderson has given notice that she 'cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands.

Accordingly, ARN has terminated the services agreement with Henderson Media Pty Ltd, under which Ms Henderson presents the Kyle and Jackie O show. Ms Henderson will cease to present the Kyle and Jackie O show.

ARN has also offered to Ms Henderson the possibility of an alternative show on the ARN network. ARN has also provided written notice to Mr Kyle Sandilands and Quasar Media Services Pty Ltd (Quasar Media) stating that it considers that Mr Sandilands' behaviour during the show on 20 February 2026 is an act of serious misconduct which is in breach of ARN's services agreement with Quasar Media, under which Mr Sandilands presents the Kyle and Jackie O show.

Mr Sandilands has been given 14 days to remedy this breach. If it is not remedied, ARN will terminate the services agreement with Quasar Media, and in that event Mr Sandilands will cease to present the Kyle and Jackie O show.

During the 14 day period, Mr Sandilands will not take part in the show. The KIIS breakfast show will be taken off-air effective immediately, with interim arrangements made for the show.
