Shia LaBeouf charged after alleged assault in New Orleans during Mardi Gras
Actor Shia LaBeouf has been arrested and charged in the US following an alleged assault on two men in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.
The 39-year-old, who found fame on the Disney Channel as a young teen in the early 2000s, was charged early on Tuesday with two counts of simple battery.
The New Orleans Police department were called to Faubourg Marigny, located next to the French Quarter, about 12.45am, after a member of staff reported he'd been punched.
The actor was allegedly getting increasingly aggressive at Royal Street Inn and Bar, with a manager attempting to escort him from the premises, during which the 39-year-old allegedly attempted to hit the staff member.
According to court documents, LaBeouf then hit a male patron trying to help the manager and came back to hit a second man in the nose.
The Transformers star was held down by civilians until police arrived and he was taken to hospital for "treatment of unknown injuries".
He's since been discharged from hospital and charged over the incident.
