Margot Robbie reveals the gross truth behind Wuthering Heights filming location: 'Probably lost a lung'
With a mega Hollywood budget of around $113 million, you'd think creating an atmosphere on the set of Wuthering Heights would be a fairly straightforward feat.
But according to Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi, the reality of filming Emerald Fennell's moody new masterpiece involved a gross reality that was anything but glamorous.
"Like, we've probably lost a lung in the making of this film," Robbie, 35, candidly said during an interview with KIIS FM's iHeartLIVE event with Kent 'Smallzy' Small.
She explained how the production team jetted to Yorkshire in the UK to film the love story, expecting fog and rain in abundance.
But when they were met with unseasonable blue skies and sunshine, everyone had to get creative.
"We had to pump in this fake mist, which is essentially just petrol turned into mist, and you're breathing it in. And that's not good for, you know..." Robbie, who plays the lead role of Catherine and also serves as producer on the movie, added.
But it was Elordi, who plays her lover Heathcliff, who got the brunt of it.

"Heathcliff always emerges from the mist, so there's a guy there with a fan and a mist machine and I'm just crouched down," the 28-year-old added with a laugh, before feigning a cough.
To survive the petrol clouds and long filming days, the pair – who are both from Queensland – relied on a secret supply of Aussie comforts to get them through.
And as it turns out, Robbie is just like the rest of us when it comes to her snack of choice.

"Jacob was my mule for Aussie snacks while we were shooting," she laughed.
"He'd get his family to bring them over."
Elordi was quick to spill on his co-stars specific craving: "Margot has a penchant for nibbles... Chicken Twisties."
The duo have been delighted to be back Down Under to celebrate the movie's release, with both bringing a team of loved-ones to the movie premiere in Sydney on Thursday.
Robbie wore another jaw-dropping gown for the occasion; a beautiful white dress with corset detailing, inkeeping with the period theme of the movie.
"I have an amazing team and my stylist is really the person orchestrating all these looks that I hope you guys have been enjoying," she added in the interview.
"It's just fun. I just hope it brightens someone's day."
They then headed to the Opera House to surprise fans who were waiting to see the movie for the first time, and did the same in Brisbane on Valentine's Day.
