Jersey Shore star Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi reveals cervical cancer diagnosis
Jersey Shore star Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi has been diagnosed with cervical cancer.
The reality star, aged 38, announced the news in a video posted to TikTok earlier today, explaining that she had just come back from a post-op appointment, which was following up on a cone biopsy.
"My results came back for my cone biopsy, and it came back stage 1 cervical cancer called adenocarcinoma," she said.
"Obviously not the news that I was hoping for, but also not the worst news just because they caught it so early. Thank freaking God!"
Adenocarcinoma is "a type of cancer that starts in mucus-producing (glandular) cells," according to the Cancer Council.
It occurs higher up in the cervix, making it difficult to diagnose. Adenocarcinomas account for 25 per cent of cervical cancers.
In the video, Polizzi encourages her female followers to stay on top of their health, urging them to get their pap smears done.

"I've been struggling with abnormal pap smears for three or four years now, and now look at me," she said.
"Instead of just putting it off because I didn't want to go and it hurt and I was scared, no, I just went and did it. And it was there, cancer is in there.
"But it's stage 1, and it's curable."
"So get your appointments done! I'm telling you. Once you go to stage 2, then I think you have to do the chemo," Polizzi continued.
"Nobody wants to do that! It's scary. So get your appointments done."
She added that her options are chemo, radiation or a hysterectomy, saying she was most likely going to get a hysterectomy. Polizzi also added that she needs to undergo a PET scan to make sure the cancer hasn't spread.
"I think the smart choice here is the hysterectomy. I'll still keep my ovaries, which is a good sign," she said.
"But yeah, gotta get the cervix and uterus out. And then possibly lymph nodes. I guess it all depends on the PET scan."
Polizzi already has three children with her husband, Jionni LaValle.
She revealed in January that her doctor had found cancerous cells on her cervix after a colposcopy and biopsy.
