Sydney Sweeney poses in nothing but gold body paint for daring magazine cover

Sydney Sweeney has graced the cover of W magazine wearing nothing but gold body paint.

The 28-year-old actress is really living up to the golden girl hype with the cover for the publication's 'Best Performances' issue, covered in metallic body paint with a Chopard Haute Joaillerie necklace.

The striking cover was shot by photographer Tyrone Lebon, who The Housemaid star praised on Instagram, calling him "incredible."

The actress poses with her arms strategically across her chest, with her hair styled in a short, curled bob on the cover.

Even her hair has been painted with in the same shimmering gold paint, creating a dramatic look.

The picture was shot in soft focus, giving it a dramatic feeling with a touch of Old Hollywood too.

The magazine photographed 16 stars for the issue's various covers, including George Clooney, Jacob Elordi, A$AP Rocky and Emma Stone, although it's clear Sweeney's is the most risqué.

The cover is similar to Kim Kardashian's infamous silver body paint photos from the magazine's November 2010 issue

At the time it made headlines for the extreme shot, being the first near-full-frontal exposure of the reality star turned businesswoman and later, her claims she was "taken advantage of" by the magazine.

But while Kardashian's shoot may have ended in a breakdown on the spin-off reality show Kourtney and Kim Take New York, Sweeney is embracing it.

In the accompanying interview, the actress opened up about her life away from the screen including her Syd's Planet-themed birthday birthday bash and the shooting star dress she wore to celebrate, which Britney Spears also wore for the 2008 cover of her Circus album.

"We went out of this world. My friends really got into the theme," she said.

The 'Best Performances' accolade also comes as a bittersweet moment for the actress.

Sweeney has been praised by critics for her incredible physical transformation for the boxing biopic Christy, playing groundbreaking professional boxer Christy Martin, although she was snubbed for a Golden Globe and the movie flopped at the box office.

Yet The Housemaid has become a box-office hit and Sweeney will return for a sequel, which is already in the works.
