"There are multiple people on TikTok and Instagram impersonating me," she said.
"And they go into people's DMs and they try to build a relationship, they try to extract personal information, plan meetup times."
"I want you to know this is not me," Witherspoon clarified firmly.
She continued to express that it is "so upsetting that people would use [her] name to manipulate people".

"I want you to know that I would never, ever manipulate you," she added.
"I would never reach out to you for money, for private information, to create a meetup time.
"So please look at these accounts that are doing this and make sure they're verified".
Witherspoon posted the video to her TikTok account, which boasts 9.5 million followers.
The actress continued to note that this kind of scam is not just happening to her, "it's happening across the board".
A number of celebrities have issued similar warnings over the years.
Tom Hanks has warned fans on more than one occasion of scam accounts that he claimed used his likeness without his consent for AI-generated ads.
In mid-2024, he posted a "public service announcement" to his Instagram account, warning that "there are multiple ads over the internet falsely using my name, likeness and voice promoting miracle cures and wonder drugs".
A year prior, he shared a similar warning about a separate advertisement.
Last year, Sandra Bullock warned fans about social media scammers who she claimed were imitating her and her family.
"Please be aware that I do not participate in any form of social media. Any accounts pretending to be me or anyone associated with me are fake accounts and have been created for financial gain or to exploit people around me," the actress said in a statement to People.
"It's really upsetting to me that this is happening on such a large scale," Witherspoon added in her video.
"Please be careful out there and please know I would never, never reach out to you to manipulate you or take anything from you."
