Shock splits, the 'wedding of the century' and Robert Irwin's rise: The celebrity moments that dominated 2025
As 2025 dawned, nobody could have known the year ahead would hold the end of one of Hollywood's ultimate power couples or Katy Perry blasting into space.
And yet... here we are.
It's been a big 12 months in the world of celebrity, bringing moments and milestones that left us delighted and speechless.
Watch the video above for Richard Wilkins' recap of 2025.
From weddings and new romances to headline-dominating splits, here are some of the big celebrity stories that had everyone talking in 2025.
Ring a ding ding
Starting on a happy note, this year has brought us plenty of exciting engagements – though none as headline-dominating as Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's.

The pop superstar and the NFL icon announced the happy news in August with a series of photos taken after Kelce popped the question.
"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," the pair's joint Instagram post declared.
That wasn't Swift's only big news this year; the singer dropped her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl in October.
Zendaya and Tom Holland also got engaged in January, while Miley Cyrus flashed her new diamond ring from Maxx Morando at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere in December.
Speaking of rings, Cristiano Ronaldo proposed with an absolute whopper.
The football icon popped the question to Georgina Rodriguez, his partner of eight years, in August. It's estimated the ring is as big as 30 carats and worth millions.
The 'wedding of the century'
It was an equally big year for celebrity weddings – including, of course, that of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in June.
The lavish affair, dubbed the 'wedding of the century', saw the canals of Venice flooded with A-list guests – from the Kardashians to Oprah – uniting to see the Amazon CEO and the journalist say "I do".

The Aussie chart-topper walked down the aisle with fellow musician Matthew Copley in Malta, but waited until July to announce the happy news.
"It was more magical than we both could have dreamed ... We can't wait to come back to Australia and celebrate as Mr & Mrs," Goodrem wrote on Instagram.

The singer married producer Benny Blanco in September, sharing the dreamy photos with fans.
Splitsville
There was plenty of love in the air in 2025, but it wasn't all rosy on the celebrity romance front.
Plenty of high-profile couples, many of whom had been together for several years, called it quits.
Arguably the most shocking was Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, whose separation dominated headlines in September.
The Oscar-winning actress and the country singer had been married for 19 years, sharing two children.
Kidman reportedly cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split in her divorce filing.
Meanwhile, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom confirmed their separation in June, six years after their engagement.
Jessica Alba and Jessica Simpson also separated from their respective husbands, Cash Warren and Eric Johnson.
In May, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness finalised their divorce after separating in 2023; in a statement, Furness said she had been navigating "the traumatic journey of betrayal".
New romances
As some love stories end, others begin.
We saw plenty of new couples go public in 2025 – including Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster, who made their red carpet debut in October after months of romance reports.
Another surprise development was Katy Perry moving on from Orlando Bloom with Justin Trudeau.
After a couple of sightings, the pop star and the former prime minister of Canada went 'Instagram official' during a trip to Japan in December.
Jennifer Aniston also hard-launched her new man, Jim Curtis, on Instagram, while Billy Ray Cyrus found love with Liz Hurley in a pairing that made a while lot of sense.
The rise of Robert Irwin
He's had fans since he was a tiny floppy-haired kid, but 2025 was the year Robert Irwin well and truly cemented his 'golden boy' status.
In April, he bared all for a Bonds campaign, leaving many unsure how to feel about the sight of Steve Irwin's little boy in his undies.
Then, in September, he hit the stage in the 2025 series of Dancing With The Stars US, dazzling us all with his twinkle-toed efforts.
Whether he was leap-frogging over dance partner Witney Carson or ripping off his shirt and gyrating, Irwin had the whole world talking, and nobody was surprised when he was named the winner.
Stars in space
Katy Perry might have a hit song about extraterrestrials, but even she couldn't have predicted she'd one day end up in space.
In April, the singer joined an all-female crew, also including Lauren Sanchez Bezos and Gayle King, for a 10-minute space flight with Blue Origin.
To put it mildly, the expedition was divisive, with plenty of celebrities both ridiculing and slamming Perry, King and co. for taking part.
Losses that left us reeling
On a more serious note, we lost a number of beloved celebities this year from Hollywood and the music world.
We farewelled actors including Diane Keaton, Robert Redford, Val Kilmer, Gene Hackman, Julian McMahon and Michelle Trachtenberg.
Meanwhile, the music world mourned icons like Ozzy Osbourne and Brian Wilson.
