Ronaldo's fiancée Georgina Rodríguez says 30-carat $5 million engagement ring is 'the least he could offer me after 10 years'

When Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez announced their engagement in August, it almost broke the internet.

Not just because fans thought it was a long time coming, but because of the enormous diamond engagement ring the footballer presented his wife-to-be. It's said to be 30 carats and worth upwards of $5 million.

Speaking to Elle Spain, Rodríguez, 31, made a cheeky quip about the ring, saying, "It's gorgeous. It's the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting."

The influencer shed some light on the actual proposal, saying she couldn't believe the size of the ring and couldn't look at it for hours.

"It took me a long time to process the enormous stone he gave me," she admitted.

"I was so shocked that I left it in my room and didn't open it in the sunlight until the next day."

Rodríguez said her bond with the football icon when they met was "a connection that went far beyond the physical".

Brisbane-based jewellery designer Nick Ireland told 9honey he believed the ring was a whopping 30 carats and would cost upwards of $5 million, believing it to be a D colour grade flawless diamond.

"It's a beautiful, big oval-cut diamond ... and I think the diamonds underneath look like they might be oval cuts ... it appears that there are some smaller side stones underneath," he said.

Ronaldo and Rodríguez announced their engagement in an Instagram post to their millions of fans.

"Yes I do. In this and in all my lives," the bride-to-be wrote.

The couple first met outside a Gucci store.

Rodríguez is the biological mother of two of the athlete's five children.

The couple were previously set to welcome twins, but announced their son had sadly died during childbirth.
