Reality star Holly Hagan's sister went on a night out - two days later she was dead
Reality star Holly Hagan's little sister went on a night out. Two days later she was dead.
The TV personality, who found fame on reality TV show Geordie Shore, announced in October that sister Darci Rose Gibson, 19, had "passed away", leaving her family "traumatised in every sense of the word" but didn't disclose any details about her death.
She has since sat down for a candid interview, breaking her silence on the harrowing reality that led to the teenager's untimely death.
The reality star, 33, told Daily Mail her sister died 48 hours after taking crystal MDMA, which she had mixed into her drink, at a nightclub in Manchester.
Gibson experienced an overdose and suffered two cardiac arrests that left her fighting for her life in the hospital for hours before she was eventually pronounced brain dead.
At 5am, the morning after her sister went out, Hagan woke up to see "130 missed calls on her phone".
"My heart dropped and you know when your whole body goes into shock," she told the publication.

"The first message I saw was in capital letters, saying, 'We are with your sister, you need to get to Manchester Royal Infirmary right now, please call us back', and that was at 2am. My whole body was in fight mode, I sat on the toilet shaking."
According to Hagan, Gibson initially felt unwell and vomited after taking the drug but seemed well enough to continue her night at the club they were at.
But soon after, her condition deteriorated and she went into cardiac arrest with staff at the nightclub working on Gibson to bring her back.
She was brought back to a stable condition and taken by ambulance to the hospital but went into cardiac arrest again on arrival.
Hagan explained they had to shock her again because her heart was out of rhythm, and she was also put on dialysis because her kidneys had stopped working.
"The doctors told us very frankly that she had taken a quantity of MDMA, her body had heated up to a point of extreme heat, they cooled her as best as they could and were keeping her stable but they wouldn't know the extent of everything until she was stable and they could do a brain scan," she told the publication.
She later added that there were machines all over the hospital room keeping her alive.
But unfortunately, despite best efforts, the medical team were not able to save Hagan's little sister.
Doctors told her, her mum and her stepdad Gibson was "100 per cent brain dead".
She said her biggest regret was not asking her if she was going to take anything, and to tell her to be careful.
As she grieves her sister, Hagan urges others to take her death as a warning.
"I really want people to take from this that just because you have taken a drug before, and it hasn't had a negative impact on you, it doesn't mean you are safe," she said.
"Every single time that you take a drug, you are playing with fire."
