Oasis member to skip Australian shows amid cancer battle

Oasis guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs will miss the Australian leg of the band's reunion tour amid ongoing treatment for cancer.

Arthurs announced in an Instagram post that he would not be attending the Seoul, Tokyo, Sydney or Melbourne shows as he needs to undertake the next part of his treatment for prostate cancer.

Arthurs said he was diagnosed with the illness at the start of the year, but he was responding well to treatment.

However, as he moves into the second phase of his treatment, he will be unable to tour.

"Early this year I was diagnosed with prostate cancer," the statement reads.

"The good news is I'm responding really well to treatment, which meant I could be part of this incredible tour.

"Now, I am having to take a planned break for the next phase of my care, so I'll be missing the gigs in Seoul, Tokyo, Melbourne and Sydney.
