Keith Urban seemingly takes a swipe at Nicole Kidman marriage during premiere of his new show
Keith Urban has returned to the small screen just weeks after his split from wife Nicole Kidman made headlines around the world.
But it seems as though the 57-year-old singer has taken a swipe at his unpleasant marriage before she filed for divorce.
During the premiere of his new show The Road, which follows 12 emerging musicians competing to be his opening act while he tours through the US, he took to the stage to perform.
Urban belted out Straight Line, a track from his new album High, and there's quite a strong meaning behind the lyrics.
In February 2024 he reflected on the message behind the lyrics in a post on Instagram.
Urban explained the song is about, "wanting to break out of a soul-sucking routine that you might be stuck in."
"Maybe in a relationship, a job, with creativity, with yourself... whatever it is," he continued.
"It's a message of feeling alive again and getting out from under that dark cloud. If you've seen us in concert, I hope it gives you that same feeling."

https://www.instagram.com/p/C21UwUas-ju/?utm_source=ig_embed&Elsewhere in the post he explained that Straight Line is the first track in the album "for a lot of reasons" but particularly because of the energy and spirit that came through the whole record.
"I'm gonna cover a lot of themes, emotions and vibes on this album but a very human spirit runs through them all," he added.
During the show Keith also spoke about how hard life can be on tour, with comments that could be linked to his divorce too.
"When you wake up on a tour bus at 3:30 in the morning and you're sick as a dog, you're in the middle of nowhere and you've got to play your fifth show later that night, and you haven't slept, and you miss your friends, and you're missing your family, and you're completely lonely and miserable and sick – and you say to yourself, 'Why am I doing this?'" Keith reflected on The Road.
"The only answer can be: because this is what I'm born to do."
The show was filmed before the news broke of their split, meaning the song choice and comments could be just coincidental.

In late September it was announced that Kidman and Urban had split after 19 years together.
A day after the news that they had split, the Aussie actress filed for divorce.
The papers, which have been obtained by several publications, cite the reason for their split as "irreconcilable differences".
She also asked to be the primary residential parent in the custody agreement as part of their divorce filing, where she will get 306 days with them, while Urban will get 59 days a year.
