'Horrible person': Orlando Bloom on the toll his rapid body transformation took on his life for new movie role

Some say that acting is an easy job, but what those people fail to realise is the turmoil these people put their bodies through.

For his upcoming movie The Cut, Orlando Bloom had to go through an insane body transformation to take on the role of a former boxing champion training for redemption.

With the film set for release at the beginning of September, Bloom has opened up about the process explaining that it made him "horrible" to be around.

"I was just exhausted mentally, physically and I was just hangry. I was a horrible person to be around," Bloom, who recently confirmed his split from Katy Perry, said during a recent appearance on This Morning.

"It's weird it's like... the paranoia, the intrusive thoughts, you know we're supposed to eat and sleep and take care of ourselves."

Bloom underwent a strict workout regime and limiting diet, working alongside a personal trainer who had gone through similar processes with other stars such as Christian Bale.

"I had a great nutritionist. He was checking my blood and stuff," Bloom shared.

"He basically tiered me down from three meals a day to two, to one. Suddenly, all these foods were being taken away from me, and my protein powder was the last one. I was like, 'No! Don't take that one'."

By the final three weeks, the actor was eating nothing but tuna and cucumber.

"I wouldn't recommend doing it at home by the way," Bloom said of his transformation.

"It was definitely not something to take lightly."

Although the transformation took it's toll on the actor both mentally and physically, he explained that it helped him to get into the right head space to be able to portray the character.

"It's really a commentary on what people, the lengths this person will go to to have that second shot," he said.

It comes after Bloom confirmed his split from partner Katy Perry after almost 10 years together.

The former couple, who were engaged and share a daughter together, announced the news with a joint statement through representatives to Page Six.

"Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry's relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting," the statement said.

"They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is – and always will be – raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect."

The couple proved this to be the case as weeks later they were spotted spending time in Venice together after Bloom attended Jeff Bezos' lavish wedding to Lauren Sanchez.

Bloom and Perry first met after the Golden Globes in 2016 and reportedly started dating soon after before a brief split in 2017.

In August 2020 they welcomed their daughter Daisy and got engaged on Valentine's Day 2019 but never wed.
